The string of craters has been extended to show approzimately where the first bomb of a string of 21 thousand pound bombs hit. This crater location is of historical importance. Please read the book Vulcan 607. That is the name of the plane that made this historic run.

This memorial is for the Battle of the Falklands, 8th December, 1914. Nothing to do with the 1982 conflict, as referred to in the last two comments. There is a separate memorial for that. Services of remembrance are held at both......8th December ( Battle Day) for the former, and 14th June ( Liberation Day) for the latter, every year, without fail.
